Is My Past Living Me?

I am intrigued by this idea of my past living me. Is it possible that the very life I live is being driven by my past experiences? If this is the case and I believe that it is, I can see why I would not be able to move into a new unlimited life. If everything I thought could transpire in my life was decided by what I had already experienced, then how could I possibly create something totally new. I’d have nothing to compare it with. I’d be on automatic, just getting up everyday and living my life as I had done the day before.

I think many of us do live like this. We get up, go through our same routines, live our day and then go back to bed and begin again the next day. We let the outside world influence how we feel and then that adds to what we think is possible and not possible for us. I think many of us do this and we do not even know we are doing it. It’s become habit. It’s become our identity, so much so, that we are not even conscious of it. And, I will add to this that many of us experience of degree of happiness living life this way. We do not want much else and we are satisfied.

This is okay, but I see and feel so much more. I always have. I do not know why, but I do know that my whole life, I’ve always gone just a little further than those around me. It doesn’t make me better or less, it is just the way I am wired.

As I said, I’ve been even more interested in this idea of living from my past experiences and the realization that they very well could be limiting my future. I am beginning to realize that every day I can push the envelope and be ready for something I might never have known or know is possible. I mean think of it: there was a time, we would not have imagined flying or even having a T.V. The capabilities to create those things were always here, we just didn’t know it, until someone dared to go beyond what they thought was possible.

So, whatever you are experiencing in your life right now, wherever you feel limited or are feeling stuck, remember, we are not our past. We are not anything that we experienced. We might be wired to think a certain way, but we can unwire ourselves from the past which has become our present and come up with something new and different. If it is intuiting through us, it is ours to do. We just have to listen and spend the time developing those inner ears. We are more than we think we are and yet we live as we are thinking. If we can get a new idea, and let go of what we did before, we can create a new life.

Loe and Aloha,

Rev. Rita
