This year, 2020 has been a more than difficult one for many of us; and yet, I have felt more joy this Christmas than I have in many Christmases past. There is something deeper about my feelings about this year’s Holiday. I have more gratitude. Nothing on the outside gives me logic for this feeling, as I witness the suffering and loss of many; but then spiritual feelings are not based on the common sense of the world of conditions. They are based on the Faith in something greater that is behind those conditions, moving and changing everything every moment. In the Science of Mind and Spirit, it is called “Cause.” It is the invisible Field of Energy behind all of creation. It is pure and never has been touched by anything. We are each Cause of our Life.
Dr. Ernest Holmes wrote, “Mind is the realm of causes. Conditions are in the realm of effects. Effects flow from causes and not from themselves. Thought is the instrument of Mind. New thoughts create new conditions. We must learn to think in the Absolute. This means to think independently of any give or experienced effect. ‘Judge not according to appearances.’ This thought strikes away at the shackles of bondage and finds a new cause at work.”
Don’t we need to strike the shackles of bondage that is felt in so many areas right now? I believe the whole experience of this year: COVID19, the multitude of deaths, the tumultuous 2020 election, the uprising of anger and prejudice and racial violence, the continued wars, all of it, has been a great wake up call, urging us to have faith in the Invisible and remember as Dr. Joe Dispenza wrote, that “we are greater than our environment.” Ernest Holmes put it like this, “We must prove that Spiritual Thought Force is greater than material resistance.”
This takes inner work and trust in the invisible. We’ve had a lot of material resistance, sometimes more than we can bear, but we cannot lose faith and we must ride this storm with more faith and strength than ever before. We are the ones here, the ones who have showed up for this assignment, and we can make a difference in what is to come and how we experience it.
The gifts of love, joy, compassion and gratitude are only a few of our tools. One might ask how can I have joy in the midst of such pain? Joy is not based on what is happening in the world of effects. It is “an emotion that comes from our expectancy of good.” We must expect good. As Brene Brown put it, “We must stop foreboding joy. We must go deep into our consciousness and instead of thinking from what we see, realize that we are creating what we see; and in order to change it, we must believe and think something different,
“We can change the direction of the wheel of causation in any moment we decide to do so,” wrote Dr. Holmes. That means changing the way we think and respond to what’s going on. Choose Love instead of anger. Choose Faith instead of fear. Choose Peace instead of confusion. Be the change we want to see.
At this time of Christmas and Hanukkah miracles, remember that in this moment anything is possible. Miracles are not just past history that we’ve read about, something that Jesus did. They are here in this present moment, and normal if choose to see them. We are creating from a Field of unlimited potential. We are a living miracle. We must stop buying into the conditional “realistic” world, and remember the intangibles: Love, Joy, Kindness, Compassion, Beauty, Imagination, Gratitude and more. As Mr. Gayley said to Doris in Miracle on 34th Street when she refused to have faith, “Look Doris, someday you’re going to find that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn’t work. And when you do, don’t overlook those lovely intangibles. You’ll discover those are the only things that are worthwhile.”
These intangibles are what is going to ride us through this storm. The intangibles that are invisible are the Cause of our Life. They are the energy of creation that will reflect into our 3D world. We must think from the 5th Dimension even though we walk the 3D world. If we can, at least once a day, turn away from the conditional world and dream and envision something greater, we will have made great progress and we will see results.
Perhaps my deep feelings of hope this Holiday Season is because Santa C’ause is coming to town. Santa C’ause is the world of Spirit, and just like Christmas and Santa, is a frame of mind. It is all mind. It precedes effects. In fact, It’s here right now. It’s never left. We are It in every moment and it is our assignment to be It from the highest and best place in consciousness, and thereby have an expectancy of Good.

It’s making a list
Based on your choice
Sending it down to subjective mind
Santa C’ause is creating your life
It’s with you when you’re sleeping
It here when you’re awake
It delivers to Law your strongest beliefs…
So make them good ones for Heaven’s sake!
So, live more in joy
Give all your love
Say a big thank you
Cause when push comes to shove…
