“A good demonstration is made when Truth gathering Its own power lifts one out of his environment, and until that time comes, he should stay where he is in order that he may know when he has made a demonstration.”
Well, this statement by Ernest Holmes in regards to using the Law is accurate and applies to a recent trip I took to Los Angeles. Really, I am not an experienced traveler and I can see that I must learn how to prepare myself a bit better. In regards to this recent trip, I was at LAX Airport and knew, ahead of time, I would need an Uber or Lift to get to my destination. What I didn’t know was that these services do not pick you up at curbside and that you have to travel by shuttle to a parking lot after making a reservation. I stood on the curb trying to deal with my phone and calling a Lift. I was quite flustered. In fact, I didn’t even know where the Lift parking lot was or how to get there. I did a Spiritual Mind Treatment for a solution, of course. I stood there at the curb with my huge suitcase, doing my best to stay calm, when suddenly an Uber appeared seemingly out of nowhere right in front of me.
This is a small example of waiting where we are while Truth gathering its own speed takes us where we want to be. But, what of this statement? What is Truth and what does it really mean to stay where you are?
We cannot demonstrate further than where we are in consciousness. Let’s say we say we want a million dollars? Do we really believe that we can have a million dollars? Do we have a millionaire consciousness? I have heard people say that the Science of Mind doesn’t work in their lives because they were not able to demonstrate this or that, but I say the Science of Mind always works according to our level of belief. When we give a Spiritual Mind Treatment, we always demonstrate according to our belief.
How does Treatment work in this way? When I treat, I am speaking my Word into the One Mind, the Field in which we all reside. It’s all available to us at all times and it is unlimited. The Field is unlimited waves of energy. I am in it. It is me. It is you. When I speak, it reacts to me at the level at which I am vibrating. That is why the great Master teacher said, “It is done unto us as we believe.”
It is done unto us means we are not doing anything to make whatever it is happen but staying steady in our belief and moving our feet. What are we believing? The most important thing we are believing is in the Power of our Word. We are believing this because we Know who we are. We are First Cause, the present moment where unlimited potential exists. The present moment has never been touched by anything. It is simply just waves of energy. We must match our Word in vibration (feeling) to that which we desire.
As soon as we start to predicate our demonstration upon something that has already happened, we’ve limited our demonstration. We are still demonstrating, but according to own limitations. The Law is not limited, but our Word can be limited. It’s really a simple science. We make it complicated. Ernest Holmes wrote this about demonstrating.
“There is a Law of unfoldment in us that says we can advance only by going from where we are to the place where we would like to be. This is not because the Law is limited but because it is Law. As we unfold in our mentality, the Law automatically reacts to us. The way to work is to begin right where we are and, through constantly applying ourselves to the Truth, we gradually increase in wisdom and understanding, for in this way alone will good results be obtained. If day by day we have a greater understanding, a clearer concept, if daily we are realizing more of Truth and applying It in our actions, then we are on the right path and eventually we shall be made free. It is a wonderful experiment and a great adventure to make conscious use of the Law; to feel that we can plant an idea in Mind and see it gradually take form.”
The most important thing we can do to be a successful scientist of the Science of Mind is to live it . Live it in small ways and live it in big ways. Start where we are and continue to expand. If we cannot use it in a simple task, how do we expect to expand to the next and the next leap of faith. If our first reaction in situations is to panic and dread the worst happening, then we have work to do, but to do that work is a gradual steady thing. It takes practice and it takes perseverance. It takes applying it simply to everything. It takes remembering who we are.
Right now, where I am at is smack in the middle of knowing that everything is God. The Universe is responding to me in every moment according to my belief. I know as I trust and have faith in the Law of my being, if I have faith and trust in my Word, I will continue to live the life I have imagined for myself. I will not be a being who just reacts. I will be right where I am in every moment and expect the perfect unfoldment of the event in which I find myself. I will understand that everything is a mirror of my thinking.
I had many amazing experiences on this trip to Los Angeles, but the most rewarding and amazing one was being in the company of people who are on the path of service and bringing Truth into the world. People who are stepping out into ministerial service and practitioner service. They are people who have their own challenges, but they understand that the only way through those challenges is to rely on Principle. As Patrick quoted Arnold Schwarzenegger “Never waste a crisis.”
What does this mean? A crisis is an opportunity to go deeper and reveal more of our Power to meet that crisis. As it is Father’s day, I’m thinking of my own father. I always remember the story of how he came home to his war-torn house and family only to find ways to bring life back to it through music and art. He was in crisis, but he let something bigger than himself carry him through right from where he was moment-by-moment.
We are all on a journey of unfoldment that is eternal. This is what I choose to believe. I am not a finite being. I am an infinite eternal being and so are you. You are never done. We are moving from experience to experience, expanding and growing all the time.
During the ministerial panels we just completed, there were several candidates who didn’t pass. Not one of them said I am done. They saw themselves on a journey coming to a point where they had to make a different decision of how they would react to what was before them. They most definitely were where their feet were. At first, they paused and allowed themselves to feel the disappointment of what they thought should unfold, but they didn’t let halt their journey. They realized they were and always would be ministers and that this point in their journey allowed them the moment to go even deeper, and delve into what was still there for them to become.
The statement “Life is journey; not a destination” is the most telling statement if we can truly live it. It removes all fear from our experience and allows us to be right where we are embodying more Truth and giving what is ours to give moment by moment.
“A good demonstration is made when Truth gathering Its own power lifts one out of his environment, and until that time comes, he should stay where he is in order that he may know when he has made a demonstration.”
Being where are feet are tells the Universe we are present and poised with who we are right now, and yet we know where we want to go and the only way we can more there is Consciousness and Consciousness only.
