In treatment…(Quote) “We should be careful to distinguish day dreaming and wistful wishing from really dynamic and creative treatment. When we treat, we do not wish, we KNOW. We do not dream, we STATE. We do not hope, we ACCEPT. We do not pray, we ANNOUNCE. We do not expect something is going to happen, we BELIEVE THAT IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED.”
This quote by Ernest Holmes is the whole essence of the job of a Spiritual Mind Practitioner and the culmination of their study. Before they truly can be effective practitioners, they must come to this realization. We might receive our professional license, which allows us to practice, but it doesn’t guarantee that we will have embodied this quote. I believe it is the continual practice and our ability to stay open to growing and expanding that makes a true practitioner of this science. That journey is to the realization that their word has power and that power is their power to use the Law for Good. The Law is Ultimate Power, the only Power in the Universe. It is God. Our use of it is our individualization. We are continually growing as individualizations through our ability to expand our realization of our place in the Universe.
I admit that I am an effective practitioner for a high percentage of the time. If this is the case, I ask myself, why I do not always fully demonstrate the intention of my treatment. There is no escaping it. The only reason is because in some case I have not STATED, ACCEPTED, ANNOUNCED and BELIEVED IT HAS ALEADY HAPPENED.
Ernest Holmes chides us by saying do not fool ourselves in thinking we’ve made a demonstration when we have not. However, we are also taught we should not put ourselves down or allow anyone to put us down if we cannot walk on water. If we had the consciousness of the Master Jesus, he states, perhaps we would walk on water. Now we can use a boat. It is a learning process of growing in faith. I celebrate this opportunity to grow in faith and to expand my ability to scientifically use the Law.
In regards to our health, we can use the help of a physician. A few days ago, I went to the skin doctor to have a skin tag/mole removed from my face. It wasn’t cancerous, but only annoying. For a time, I thought to myself, why can’t I do this myself? Why go to the doctor? This is a dangerous question and in no way in agreement with our teaching. I’m sure I could do it without the medical physician, but obviously, at this time, not sure enough. This does not mean that our potential ability to use the Power is a false belief. It just means we are growing and expanding and that’s okay. In many instances in my life I have had that kind of faith. Usually, it was when my back was pressed up against the wall and I had no choice but to trust and have faith. That happened during this very appointment.
As I sat in the chair and the doctor was having a hard time removing the mole, she said, “It doesn’t want to leave you.” She tried several times with no success. It was getting uncomfortable, and I had reached that point of being done with it. I said, “I’ll just have to ask it to leave.” She added something like “gently,” and I said, “yes, with love.” I closed my eyes and demanded it to leave. Right then, it popped off.
So, my answer to this quandary is this. I believed in the physician and my ability to work in tandem with her and to call the Power of the Law into being in that moment. I ANNOUNCED it. I had no choice, but to demand it.
I love this teaching and most definitely declare enthusiastic approval of a philosophy that only professes love and the best for all humanity. I love the possibilities available to live it fully. What does that look like? For me, it is always being curious and fully engaged in proving the ways I can both use it in my life and in service to humanity. Ernest Holmes explains the Science of Mind as this, “It is a synthesis of the best thoughts of the ages. Freed of dogmatism and superstition, it is the correlation of the laws of science, opinions of philosophy and the revelations of religion applied to human needs and the aspirations of humankind. Open at the top, it is always ready for greater illumination.”
Joe Dispenza states that science is the new mysticism. It is not enough for the world right now to just sit on a mountain top thinking and dreaming of a better world. We have to be conscious thinkers, using our minds in tandem with the Law to bring a better world into being. This is a science. Why? Because we get to test our hypotheses and prove that they are true.
We get the opportunity to look for what we want to show up as the world. This does not mean we are resisting what is; instead it is using the faculty of our Imagination to picture and live a better version of the world. Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” This is true because knowledge is merely knowing a bunch of facts that might or might not be true; whereas imagination is embodying a whole new idea of what is possible.
So, to summarize what I have written here, I am admitting that this life is one amazing experiment and we are all scientists. We haven’t just been dropped here on planet earth without a toolbox. We have a spiritual toolbox that is ours to discover. The tools are the Power of our consciousness working in tandem with the Laws of the Universe. It is most definitely “done unto us as we believe.”
