I am a writer and I write. I’m not a best-selling author, but I write. I do it anyway because that is who I am. When I practiced acting, it was like that too. I wasn’t always cast in a play or a movie, but I found ways to act because that is how I expressed myself. The same is true for ministry. I am not always ministering in the sense of doing a minister-like task like attending to the sick, or giving a talk, or performing a wedding, but still I am a minister.
Last Friday, as I prepared for a appreciation dinner we were giving, I was cleaning our lanai with soap and water. I whispered to myself, “this is what ministry looks like today.” Whatever we are or profess to be, we must take it into action and live it. Ernest Holmes wrote this,
“To suppose that one must retire from the world to be spiritual is one of the greatest possible mistakes. This is directly opposed to the self-evident truth that Spirit enjoys Itself only in its own works, which is Its self-manifestations. We enter into the Spirit of Life only as we enter into the spirit of living.”
This gives me great comfort and purpose, for I know that I am spiritual no matter what and no matter what is going on. In regards to the fires and devastation on Maui, I have been pondering the purpose of life, of me, of how I can help. At one point, I even had a dark moment of the soul. I wouldn’t even give it a whole night. How do I explain this? How do I answer the question “Why?” How do take Spirit into living even here. I do it anyway. Behind everything, the great Presence is moving. Nothing can stop it. Even a fire. Even death. There is a place within me that knows this for certainty. As we turn to God, It turns to us. When I turn to Spirit in everything, it turns to me. It allows me to know what is mine to do. However, it allows me to know in a greater way.
As I prepared for the dinner on Friday, with the tragic fires happening on in Maui, I wondered how I could plan to entertain and give others a good time when others were suffering. I understand that there is one unified field of energy. As I give to it, it responds to me and is felt everywhere. In quantum science, it’s called ‘entanglement’. If I live life greatly no matter what is occurring, I am generating more joy, love and peace in the unified field. Where one or more are gathered, there I am also. What is that “I Am?” it is the Christ consciousness.
So, I do it anyway. I cannot wait until everything is perfect to be love in the world or to enjoy life or to be good to others. I have to start where I am and do it anyway. Whether it is a lost relationship, a catastrophe where you lose everything, whether you think you cannot believe in good any more, do it anyway. Spirit will never let us down and all our answer will be found within the silence of our own soul.
Blessings and Love,
