Merriam Webster defines crazy as “not mentally sound: marked by thought or action that lacks reason.”
Our course by logical reasonable decisions made by what we see, those who practice the Science of Mind, would be considered crazy. But, truly, those who practice the Science of Mind, use spiritual logic which is based on the scientific premise that everything is energy and that energy flows into form through the attention we give it. Belief backed by determination and faith put into action breaks down what seem like unsurmountable walls.
I am so deep into the water right now that I can no longer swim for shore. I must go deeper and further than I’ve ever gone before. Something is calling me to be so big and it is so uncomfortable. However, I know this is a good thing. I am being called to stretch my spiritual muscle and let go of anything that holds that muscle in place, including fear, doubt and lack. I am being asked not for blind faith, but for the kind of faith that says, “you have a Principle that you have been growing in for over twenty years now. It isn’t going to let you down. Keep moving forward.
Just this week alone, I have taken so many of what motivator, Rick Tamlyn would call “gulps.” Gulps are those times when you just take a deep gulp and jump into the abyss. Something within me was screaming to give it up. Voices saying, “You’ll never do this! It’s a lie.” However, that voice is a lie and needs to be discarded.
The title of our talk this past Sunday at CSL Kaua`i was “Take the Trash Out!” It is time in our evolution to totally and completely let go of everything we thought was and move into the unknown. We are the people born during this time who our being asked to let go of everything and to step into service of this world in order to take it through the great shift of consciousness that is occurring.
I just read a beautiful blog by one of our colleagues Dr. Jim Lockard. He quoted Joseph Campbell.
“We must be willing to get rid of
the life we’ve planned, so as to have
the life that is waiting for us.
The old skin has to be shed
before the new one can come.
If we fix on the old, we get stuck.
When we hang onto any form,
we are in danger of putrefaction.
Hell is life drying up.
The Hoarder,
the one in us that wants to keep,
to hold on, must be killed.
If we are hanging onto the form now,
we’re not going to have the form next.
You can’t make an omelet
without breaking eggs.
Destruction before creation.”
As CSL Kaua`i moves into a bigger space here on the Island of Kaua’i, I think, But, isn’t this new building form? Am I holding onto form? No, just as the Swami told us when we visited him a oouple of weeks ago about their new temple. “This temple isn’t a building, it is God.” It is God because, God as us made it. It was created by consciousness and consciousness alone.
We have been in our suite at the Kauai Professional Building for eight years. When we decided it was time to move, it wasn’t about the amount of people that were coming to service calling us to have a bigger space. In fact, we were still coming back slowly from Covid 19. It wasn’t about our class attendance increasing. In fact, it had decreased. It wasn’t about the hundreds that were showing up at Lydgate for our birthday celebration. No. None of these things were actually showing us in form that it was time to move. By the looks of form, we are crazy. But, as Joseph Campbell put it in the previous quote, “When we hang onto any form, we are in danger of putrefaction. Hell is life drying up.
No, something deeper called us. In order to grow we need to provide a space to grow – a space in our consciousness that would have to expand before it saw the results of that expansion. That takes faith. That takes being very uncomfortable. That takes breaking the eggs of old beliefs and giving up the old ways of doing things.
When we first started CSL Kaua`i, someone who had helped us a lot in our initial stages, left scratching his head, saying we didn’t have a model. He’d helped us all he could. He saw our success, but couldn’t explain it in reasonable terms. Let it be known: we do have a model: It’s called Principle. We Know with a capital K that when we put our demand on the Universe, it will meet it. This is not magical thinking, it is scientific thinking.
I am so appreciative right now of the people of our Center. They, too, have stepped beyond their bounds of the ideas of service, of giving, of pushing the envelope of their beliefs. They have stepped outside their comfort zone to assist in this shift which is shifting all of us collectively at the same time. None of this matters if we do not expand. Expansion of consciousness is all this is about.
In his blog, Dr. Lockard mentions the crab that has to crawl out of its shell in order to find a bigger home. That time is a vulnerable time. Will he fine the shell or be destroyed by the threats of being in the environment without that shell. He has to take the chance. I found this on the web:
“Shell evacuation happens when a growing crab needs to “trade up” both its housing and its exoskeleton to accommodate its larger body size. This is a normal process called molting.”
For many of us, we are like that crab needing to grow, shed what no longer serves that growth and be willing to be vulnerable, exposed and open to failure. We are definitely molting. Where in your life are you molting? Where in your life are you afraid to fail, but press through anyway.
And yet, because of the teaching that we profess to know. We know that failure is impossible. I heard a talk by motivator, the late Bob Proctor where he spoke of us as being imagers. We image what we want and then we are relentless in the quest of allow and surrender to it. It is about allowing and surrendering. I did that so many times this week when I felt my insecurities come forward. When I looked at form. I realized I couldn’t create from what I was seeing. Our creation had to take place in the unseen. I just took a deep breath imagined the end result and followed in the footsteps laid out for me. The Universe kept responding immediately.
I have to keep asking myself why? Why are we doing this? Why this renovation? What are we creating? Why live in this field of the unknown? It would be so much more comfortable to just retreat and have a fixed life. It’s because it has to do with the evolution of the whole planet. These times call for big amounts of faith. These times call for people who are willing to step beyond their comfort zone. These times also call for people willing to let go of old models of the way things were done. To stop singing the same song over and over. To sing a song we do not know, whose melody is formed as we sing it.
Dr. Jim wrote this:
“We are in a time in between a known past and an unknown future. What we know about the future is it will require more of us than the past did. We must develop beyond what we are to what we need to be, asking the question “What wants to happen by means of me?”
Our mentor Dr. James Mellon would ask that question when something was uncomfortable in his life. “What wants to happen through me right now?”
What a powerful way to take responsibility for what is in front of us – for the challenges, the seeming failures, the longings to turn back. The callings into the unknown that are so strong.
Is the Divine Urge calling you? If you think it isn’t, look to the places in your life that you feel discontented or discouraged. As Michael Beckwith wrote, “Pain pushes until the Vision pulls.”
“Where there is no vision, the people perish?” Solomon.
Do you have a vision for your future, the future? We are being called to be visionaries. Barbara Marx Hubbard said something like this “Visionaries wake up; the world needs you!”
You might ask, why does the world need us visionaries? Because evolution moves forward through expansion of consciousness. There are many visions to catch right now. And the right one for each of us is there. However, we will not see them if we do not take out the trash or the thoughts that press us down and keep us locked in old thinking. Today, I take another gulp, another big breath and keep moving forward with love and compassion and a vision of a world that lives in collaboration and oneness, beginning with me.
