As my fingers are poised on the keys, I contemplate these words “For Good.” Our whole philosophy of the Science of Mind is based on the words of Ernest Holmes, “There is a Power for Good in the Universe greater than we are and we can use it.” What is this Power and why do these words seem dualistic to me now that I know something of quantum physics which tell me that I am the observer and as I observe anything it is that to me. That I am one with what I observe – no separation. Nothing exists outside my observation.
There is no duality. All is one and the Power for Good that I can use is only greater than my finite mind. I can use as much of it as I can embody. Is it always Good? It depends on how you define Good. As I look up the word, it seems to connote those things that are positive. We say everything is good. I’m good. He’s good, etc. How can everything be good?
Well, as I understand this Power for Good that we get to use, I am reminded that it is merely stating that it has the potential to be good depending on how we use it. This power for good is our ability to choose and to throw those choices into the field through our thoughts and feelings. The Power is good in that its purpose is to just say yes to us. What could be better than that. We have a power that resides within us and surrounds us that simply says yes to us every time we think and act accordingly.
Many of us are searching for our good. The challenge for us is that we put it outside of ourselves. We think we want a certain thing or to live in a certain way and then we do everything to counter that desire. We do not live according to the good we say we desire.
Ernest Holmes wrote this: “We have within us a power that is greater than anything that we shall ever contact in the outer, a power that can overcome every obstacle in our life and set us safe, satisfied and at peace, healed and prosperous, in a new light, and in a new life. Mind, all mind, is right here. It is God’s Mind, God’s creative Power, God’s creative Life. We have as much of this Power to use in our daily life as we can believe in and embody.”
This Power for Good is God. Use the words interchangeably and realize that God works through you, as you. How much of the limitless life can you embody. What can you conceive as possible that then only think from that place. Someone asked me why we do not fully use this Power. Why if we know our thoughts are powerful are we thinking the things we are thinking? I believe we are using this Power as fully as we can and we are getting those results accordingly. In order to have a greater or more positive result we just need to embody more o it. By embody I mean to open up and be it – no separation.
There is quote from Emma Curtis Hopkins: “Are you not seeking Good? Why do you move your right hand? You move it to get your Good. Why do you breathe? You breathe to get your Good. Why do the stones lie still and wait? They are waiting for their Good. Why does the bird fly? It flies for its Good. Everything moves and waits for its Good. So, you see that the Good draws everything. The Good which you and I want governs everything we do. Therefore, the Good which you are seeking is your God.” — Emma Curtis Hopkins—20th Century Mystic, Healer, Teacher, Writer Scientific Christian Mental Practice
Our Good is not separate from us and we are all seeking our good. The challenge is to accept it as already here. We do not have to do anything to get it. It’s ours. We just have to open up to it, receive it, and live our lives as if it were already so.
Our Good is our God. And God is “Greatness on Demand.” That would be you and I. Emma goes on to say to take the word “Good” and lie it before us like a beautiful white stone and allow it to speak to us. Let’s do that for a moment and when you do, get back to me with what you found or discovered. I believe you will discover that as you contemplate anything occurring in your life and you take the word “Good” and allow it to lie before you like a white stone of clarity. You will see what is yours to see.
“There is a Power for Good in the Universe Greater than we are and we can use it.” That Power for Good is Love and it is the very essence of who we are. We might error in finding it in what is conceived as the wrong places, but it doesn’t lessen the Power. However, just think if we truly align with it and embody it, what we can accomplish.
