I had a revelation today. Sometimes, I surprise myself because I consider myself spiritually practiced. I am, and maybe that’s why I’m so aware. I remember Dr. Joe Dispenza saying that awareness is always the first step in the process of change. Many of us are unconscious as we move from day to day. We think the same thoughts and act the same way, never realizing that we are on remote. It takes more than a moment, and also a decision, to become conscious beings.
I’ve been doing a particular meditation with Dr. Joe that I believe brought this belief up. I’d been practicing the meditation for a few weeks because we were experiencing some financial distress as a Center. I wanted to truly trust the universe and let go to the highest good in the situation, and, of course, to bring more abundance. This morning, I got to the crux of it, and it was a belief that I held that was keeping my good from me. I don’t need to go into the details because I am working through the belief right now, but I just want to share that YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR BELIEFS. If there is something in your life that is not working, THERE IS A BELIEF BEHIND IT to which you are holding fast. There is also a formula for changing beliefs, and it works.
First of all, you might ask: why do beliefs matter, and where do they come from? Beliefs come from many places: friends, society, childhood, etc. Why are beliefs important to recognize? Well, the mystic Jesus said it most completely and succinctly: “It is done unto you AS you believe.” It is impossible to truly see the world or experience it outside of your beliefs. If you don’t believe this, look at all the different people and experiences there are in the world. We all have different beliefs about life, and that is how it appears to us. There’s more to this, and you can read about these principles in the work of many of our modern and ancient mystics.
How do you change a belief? It takes practice, but it is quite simple. First, find the opposite belief. I’ll make one up. Suppose you believe that your relationships never work out. What would be the opposite belief? I always have rich and fulfilling relationships. Yes, this is an affirmation. The second step is to contemplate that affirmation. That means sitting quietly and journaling what it means to you. The third step is to meditate on it. Open up to your higher consciousness to bring the affirmation into your soul’s embodiment. The last step is to stay on course. In other words, anytime you find yourself slipping into the old belief, re-affirm what you know as truth.
It’s not going to happen overnight, or maybe it will. It depends on you and how quickly you can let go of the old belief and embody the new one. In reality, you are rewiring your brain, which has thought the other way for perhaps a long time.
The truth is, it works. I’ve proved it numerous times in my life over the last decades, and now I will prove it again. Spiritual Evolution is a never-ending spiral upward.
