Seeing Through the Void – Part II

Yesterday we explored the idea that what stands between us and our Good is often our belief in its absence. Today I want to share what happened when I stopped trying to fill that absence and simply stepped into the void.

As I walked by the ocean in all its glory, I heard a whisper. It was firm and resonated through my body, mind, and soul. It said, “Create something new.”

In that moment, I realized that in my own life I had been trying to recreate something that no longer served me or the spiritual community we lead. Creating something new meant letting go of everything I thought was working—and everything I thought wasn’t—and sitting in that void I spoke about yesterday.

Waiting. Listening. Allowing what is pressing forward to be revealed.

When we come to a time in our lives when we think we do not know what to do or what to focus on next, it is not a time to rush forward. There are moments when sitting in the void is valuable, because it allows us to bring forth something entirely new.

In this time of seeming chaos, I am not trying to stop or deflect what I am experiencing. No. I am sitting amidst it all and focusing on what is coming through me.

It might not make sense at first. It might seem too big for one person to accomplish. It might even feel laughable at my age. And yet, there it is—right in front of me. So today, I take one small step toward it.

What about you? If what stands between you and your good is the absence you keep focusing on, what if you transformed that absence into a void of unlimited possibility and simply sat with it? Dream. Be receptive to change. Live as if it were already true.

When people say they do not know what they want, I do not believe them. We all know what we want. We may simply be afraid to say it out loud.

Today, I invite you to allow it to come through the void. I can see it forming already. Is it possible the void is not empty at all. That it is where creation begins.?
