Who do you trust? It is a good question to ask oneself no matter how old we are, how many friends we think we have or what we are doing. In whom do you put your trust?
What does it mean to trust another? To me, it means that I always know that no matter what, I can count on that person to be honest with me and have my highest good in mind.
I have found over the years that there are many people I have said that I have trusted. I have had friends, family and business associates that I have trusted and still say I trust. Some have lived up to my trust and others have fallen by the wayside of my experience. I am sure that there have been others who have trusted me and that I have disappointed. I am sorry for that. However, what I have come to realize is that it is not possible to put that amount of pressure and expectations on another person. I have come to understand that there is only one place I can put my trust. That place is the very essence of Life itself or whom I call God. I can trust God. When I truly do that, everything in my life shows up to outpicture that trust.
What does this mean? For me, God is not a Sky God. God means that Life Force, that Divine Presence that flows through me and is always backing me. Jesus called it his Father. This Power doesn’t care about my mistakes. It doesn’t care if I am good. It only gives of itself through me. All I have to do is be an open vessel. This is a mental act. Getting in touch with this Power is a deep knowing and feeling. It is the still voice within that says, “Im here. Stay close to me.” Its voice is my voice.
As I feel and hear the doubts and fears of others, I know that these doubts and fears are unnecessary. If we could but stay in the present moment, right here and right now and realize that our journey is backed by Infinite Wisdom and Love and inexhaustible Energy, we would never have anything to fear or doubt. It wouldn’t matter what was happening in the world of conditions. We would just know that all is well.
When and if I think about the future, whether it be where I will live a year from now when I have to move from this house or what will happen to me when I am older, or even the moment when I will leave this planet, there is one thing I know. I have always been guarded and protected. I have always been guided and directed. I know that everything in my life continues in this manner. No matter what I encounter, I can trust God.
If you happen to be experiencing any challenge at this time, I invite you to take a breath deeply into yourself. I invite you to open up and remember these words, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” John 14:10
Or as Ernest Holmes wrote, “…that Life without which nothing can live, that Power without wich nothing can move, and that Spirit without which nothing can be – IS GOD. It is only as we live in conscious union with the Spirit, and consciously let It work through us that we really live.“
We are not alone now, nor have we ever been alone, nor will we be alone. “Be still and know…that I am God.” You are…God. So is everything that shows up in your life.
