Imagination is defined as “the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses.”
As a little girl, when I would go to bed at night, I played a game of writing stories in my head about all the things I would like to have happen in my life. If a boy crush had disappointed me, I would make up a fairytale of my perfect love and I going on an adventure together. My games with my friends were wild adventures that I led, building forts, pretending we were historic figures or married to our favorite Beatle. There was no imaginative adventure that was out of the scope of possibilities. We became non human, too, play-acting the lives of horses and other animals. I’m sure lots of other children played this way, but for me, I believe it is what has brought me to today and my constant capabilities of dreaming and executing those dreams.
Now, as 2018 approaches, I am ready to dream bigger. I am ready to go back to that little girl’s imagination where everything was possible and nothing was out of the scope of my capabilities to create. I am renewing my imagination. Yes, I’ve accomplished a lot in my life, but there is more to do and more to be.
What exactly can I imagine? Can I truly imagine world peace? Can I imagine a world where everyone is fed and taken care of? Can I imagine that we are all living up to our true identities and flourishing? What exactly can I imagine for my own life? There is a lot to do this year. Our Center is growing and my life needs to grow with it. I am demanding that I think bigger than I’ve ever thought before.
I am open to imagining more. I am open and I know that as I imagine I am feeding my subconscious mind with a grand design, a blue print that is ready to be built. It all starts with my imagination. Albert Einstein once stated, “imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
Perhaps, we’ve been using our imaginations for a lot of negativity and we see it around us. Look what we’ve created! If we deny that it was our doing, we deny our power to change it. Let us focus on the good. Let us use this powerful tool called “Imagination” right now and begin to envision the changes we so long for. We don’t need everyone to do it. “One alone in consciousness with the Infinite constitutes a complete majority,” and will get the ball rolling in the right direction. It’s all about momentum and it starts with each of us in our imaginations. There is no where else for it to start.
I invite us to start right now. I invite us to everyday spend some time before we go to sleep or when we wake up imagining the life we want for ourselves and this world. And then, of course, go out and act as if it were true.
