Are You Superstitious?

In my faith, which is a way of life, I am invited to not be superstitious. It is written, “Claim that no form of race-suggestion, belief in limitation, subjective idea of limitation, thought of karma, fatalism, theology or hell, horoscope, or any other false belief, has power. Accept none of them. If you have ever believed in them, if you have ever believed that the stars govern you, or that your environment governs you, or that your opportunities govern you, recognize this an hypnotic condition into which you have fallen, and deny every one of them until there is no longer anything in you that believes in them.”

This is Ernest Holmes opinion, but I totally get it and agree with him. He says it from a place of study, experimentation and understanding the power of our subconscious minds. We will create those things in form that we believe to be true.

I used to get my horoscope read. Once I had a life reading done. I don’t do this anymore and I actually destroyed my life reading. I want to be free to create my life from the now moment. If I believe it, I will create it. Everything is attracted to me according to my belief.

Here is what I think of the stars, new moons, full moons, etc. Again, this is just my opinion. I believe they do influence us, but that it is only a tendency, just like our DNA or heredity. If it were anything else, we would not be free beings with volition and choice. We have the choice in every moment to decide what we will be influenced by and what we believe. This is the only thing that makes sense for me. I am not subject to anything unless I accept it and allow it.

Why am I bringing this up now? Well, it’s almost New Year’s Eve and many of us will be doing rituals and practices of letting go and setting intentions and resolutions. I will.

I knew a woman who believed if she walked around the block with her packed suitcase that she would have the opportunity to travel the next year. I knew another that would go get several hundred dollars cash out of the bank in one dollar bills and cover her body with it as she slept. This ritual she believed would bring money to her the following year.

I invite us to understand why these things are so and more than likely will bring exactly what we declare into our life. It is because “it is done unto us as we believe.” We are powerful manifestors.

So, for me, I must make sure that what I profess to believe in is for my highest good and that of this world. This New Year’s Eve I take the time to carefully choose those ideas and to make powerful declarations. I also understand that I am free to change my mind at any time. I am constantly evolving and expanding and what I decide on December 31 is just the beginning of what I intend to be a spectacular year. There is no added power to my declarations because I made them on December 31. I couldn’t just as easily declare something else on January 5 or July 2. It’s all what I believe. Nothing governs me unless I say it does. I am at choice.

I am grateful to know this and to prove this. It does me no good if I cannot prove it. My intention is to continue to use my most powerful tool – the tool of a trained mind focused on good. “Trained thought is more powerful than untrained thought.” It is because we’ve given it that power.

Happy 2018!

Love and Aloha,

Rev. Rita.
