Living the Laws of Prosperity

What is prosperity? That is what we are focusing on this month at our Center. We want to get really radical with the idea of prosperity – all of it. Edwene Gaines, who wrote “The Four Laws of Prosperity” has spent her life ministering to people in this one area.  What is Prosperity! FROM EDWENE GAINES

  • A vitally alive physical body to provide a comfortable worldly home for the spiritual beings that we are
  • Relationships that are satisfying, nurturing, honest and work all the time
  • Work that we love so much that it’s not work; it’s play
  • All the money we can spend

I would agree with her. In the Science of Mind and Spirit, we teach that there are four corners to life: Health, Relationship, Financial, Creative Expression. Being fulfilled and at peace in all these areas is the sign of a truly aligned and balanced life.

I think, as we travel this life path, we experience success in varying degrees in all these areas. When I use the word “success,” I am not talking so much about accomplishment as I am about coming to a peace about ourselves in relationship to each area. We feel a sense of good health and trust in exhibiting good health, even though at times we might experience disease. We are fulfilled in most of our relationships, whether with our pets, children or a close intimate relationship with a partner. We fluctuate from loving our work to seeking and struggling to find work that is an expression of our true self. In the area of money, we move from a state of security to struggle to security. Some of us attain great wealth and others of us spend our time doing our best to pay our bills, while there are still others who live destitute for most of their lives.

So what is it all about? In the four corners of our life, why are we so different? If I look at Nature, which is my best teacher, I see balance. I see abundance. I see different eco systems that flourish in their own way. However, when I look at us, I see more struggle then ease and grace. Nature is intoned with itself and its laws through what is called instinct. The same thing in us is our intuition. Our we intend with the Divine within?

Edwene write about the Laws of Prosperity as being: The Law of Tithing, The Law of Living our Divine Purpose, The Law of Forgiveness and the Law of Goal Setting.

Looking only at my own life, I can truly see how the living of these laws consciously and unconsciously have played out in my level of prosperity. I have spent many years of my life struggling to live these laws, even when I didn’t know it. As soon as I became more conscious about myself, recognized myself as at choice, and took responsibility for my life and everything in it, things began to shift.

Tithing has always been easy for me and it has taught me to have great faith in the flow of money in my life. I get it. The Law of Forgiveness took me a while to really understand, especially in regards to myself. I believe forgiveness is a life-time practice. I am mastering this area.

However, the laws I truly believe held me back were Goal Setting in alignment with living my Divine Purpose. It wasn’t until the day I remember saying “I am going to do this (ministry) and I’m not going to give myself a plan B, that my life began to shift. My prosperity began to grow slowly and now more rapidly, as I continue to allow myself to change and expand.

There is an order and harmony to the Universe. There is enough for us all. However, we must live within that harmony in our own lives. If we want to live in that state of peace, knowing that we are always taken care of and literally in the flow of life, it makes sense that we would need to have a peaceful mind in regards to all our relationships. It makes sense that we would have to circulate our money and as tithing states, give to our Spiritual Source first in that trust the Law of Circulation. It makes sense that there would be a purpose for each and every one of us in the Divine Matrix of life and when we are following that purpose, we would have to be successful. It makes sense that having goals would give structure to our advancement because we would not spend time doing those things that didn’t support our purpose.

As I reflect on all of this and my own life, I can truly see where I have been, where I am and where I have the possibility to go in expansion. I believe there is no way around it. There are Spiritual Laws that we get to use. We are not governed by them, but by our use of them. In our teaching we state, “We are spiritual beings living in a spiritual universe, governed by OUR USE of the Law of Cause and Effect.”  The Law of Cause and Effect is behind every one of the Laws that Edwene speaks of because we are always causing effect through our beliefs, thoughts propelled by emotion and actions. Living in alignment with these Spiritual Laws is causing effect at all times.

Love and Aloha,

Rev. Rita
