When I’m 65

I’m not sure why the Beatles wrote the song and called it “When I’m 64...” I didn’t experience what could be called the stigma of ageism until I turned 65. I am not one to mind getting older and I believe in growing older and wiser with grace. I have no intention but to age with all the Goddess that I am, doing the things I love, staying alert and filled with enthusiasm for life. On the physical side, I exercise more than some people far younger than me and I have always eaten healthy and wisely. I do not consider myself typical nor should any of us.

Why am writing about this today? Well, my voice goes out to anyone who is reaching the 60s and beyond. I want to let you know that I know we are unique individualized expressions of the Divine. There is not a way we could fall into a statistic that is claimed as our destiny, unless we fall into the race consciousness. We have a tendency for everything that is held in the Collective Unconscious, but the Principle that I hold true and have held true for the last twenty years, tells me that Principle is not bound by precedent and that I am new in every moment, as I make choices for myself based in self-love.

This morning I glimpsed at an ad that let me know that I would be battling my weight with age because of my hormones. This might be true in the world of form, but in the world of Spirit there is no battle going on. We are perfect and whole just as we are and whatever we feed our minds with in regards to weight will surely show up in our waistlines. I don’t do battles. I live aligned with Spirit.

Now if I were just talking philosophically, you might argue with me and tell me I am airy-fairy in my knowing,, but now all you have to do is look to the new science discoveries in the quantum world, and you will see that what I am saying is already proven.

So, when the mystics of ages gone by told us that the subconscious mind was the builder of the body, that we renew our cells continually, and that we might consider loving ourselves, getting out of judgment and bitterness, love only, and cutting our stress down, they were telling us truth. They didn’t need a microscope or an Xray because they were and are quantum thinkers, deductive reasoners and aligned with the Universal Mind that knows all.

We all have the capability to live long, healthy, and loving lives. There is no limit to what we can do or be. We are creating our life in every moment by where we focus our attention and what we feel strongly about. Really, love is the answer. It leads us to naturally good diets, healthy choices and stress-free lives. Spirit, mind and body are the wholeness of us. So, perhaps you might consider not believing everything you read or watch on TV, and instead go within where all the answers lie.

Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m 65? Yes, Spirit will and does and has done so for all of our lives. It is breathing us, living us, and working through us for the Good of the Whole of us.

Love and Aloha,

Rev. Rita
