Picking Up Small Stones

It was a different 4th of July for us. It was very quiet. I think we needed the respite from all the busyness of the last few weeks as we get ready for our Center’s 6th Anniversary here on the Island.

So, last night we ended the evening by watching “The West Wing,” which I’ve never seen. We’ve decided to make it our new series.  Since we do not have cable, we rely on Netflix for our TV watching. Given all the is going on in the world of politics, this was a very good choice indeed. I know I am going to really enjoy it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about politics lately. How can’t you with everything going on in the world. Today, I ask myself how I can help besides being an educated voter. I think it is more about the people than the politicians right now. We are going to have to be more actively involved if we are not already.

I’m reminded of the quote if you want to move a mountain, begin by carrying small stones. My first stone, and its more of a boulder, is to go is prayer. My prayer right now is majorly for the children that are confined at the borders of our country. I know there are organizations I can give to and I am, but I need to do something else. With prayer, I know that all things are possible. The Universe moves when we move with it.

My prayer is for a solution. It seems impossible looking at the horrendous conditions. And, we do need to look at it. We need to see it clearly. However, then I look beyond them to the bigger picture, the largest perspective, which is Infinite. I know that as we all make our efforts big and small, that there is a Power greater than all of this that moves through all of creation that steps in and takes us for the rest of the ride. The meek shall inherit the earth and the last shall be first. It takes a tremendous heart of commitment to stay steady and true.

I’ve seen this happen in my own small life when things have felt insurmountable. I do what I can, and then some seeming miracle occurs that I have no way of explaining. That is what I am expecting now. As I focus my attention on the solution instead of the problem, as I stay connected and realize nothing is separate from me, answers come, solutions come.

Talking about separation, I think the most important thing that we can do is to realize that we are not living separately from anyone or any situation. We all live in one field of energy that is moving as one big orchestra. We be an individualization of it, our little ripple, but it’s still the same Field, the same Energy. As long as we can realize we are not separate even from those we consider enemies, we can make a difference. Otherwise, we’ve put ourselves in a place where we cannot reach anyone. What we do, say, think is felt everywhere as long as we recognize the connection.

I am expecting answers to come. I am moving my stones. I am beginning with prayer. I am knowing the Universe is moving for us, not against us. I am knowing that love is winning. Now, I expect answers. I move my feet.

Love and Aloha,

Rev. Rita

  1. I especially love this posting. It reminded me of the David and Goliath story in which David picked 5 smooth stones from the river – it seems to me that those stones represent our individual gifts, our blessings, which we are intended to use in the betterment of the world. Mahalo for this timely reminder. Love and blessings, Suzanne
