God of the Living

Have you ever heard the Bible quote, “God is not the God of the dead, but of the Living because to him all are alive.”? Now, let me clarify that I know God is not a man but the Presence within all of us. It is from that place I am writing. And, if we have a problem with the word, “God,” pick some other word to represent the Power that runs through and as everything, that connects us all in the one Field of Intelligence, the Divine Matrix, the one Mind.

So, we know it is alive and vibrant and we cannot kill It. Since we are all It and move and have our being as It, that would me we are Life. Yes of course, God couldn’t be a God of the dead, because if we really think deeply about it, we will see that there is no such thing as death. We have bodies right now and some of us do not, but I believe we are all here in this Field as our own individualized ripple of love. Where we decide to appear is up to us and even when it seems we were taken too early or by someone else’s hand, we are still here. I believe this and it gives me strength during these challenging times here on planet earth.

The worst thing we could possibly ever do is to take someone else’s time here and cut it short, but what am I going to do about it besides forgive and forgive again. I cannot meet hate with hate or nothing will change. I am happy that we have man-made laws in place to deal with all things justly on this plane of action. However, it doesn’t give me the excuse to judge and hate. It gives me all the more reason to hold healing energy for all people, to acknowledge that behind all the tragic acts, love is always doing its best to push through. We can give it a hand by staying strong and loving an even greater way.

When things look the worst is the time to do our best work. Right now I will remember when things appear rough that God is a God of the Living. I am blessed to live here on this plane of action because I get to do what I can do. To think that our brothers and sisters who have gone on are not doing the same in their own way doesn’t make any sense to me.  Life is the only thing that makes sense to me.

It’s logical and makes it all the more important to make the best of it and do the most with it. It is a responsibility to stand in our own skin and do our best to bring all the love we can to this world, while we are here and able. It makes sense to clean up our own lives and relationships and do our best to be our best selves.

God is a God of the living. As Ralph Emerson defined God as Love. So Love is the Love of the Living and all is alive. The Love which is in and through all life is either expressing itself or calling out for expression.

Love and Aloha,

Rev. Rita
