As I Grow Older

I am growing older but what I know is that this can be a enlightening and healthful experience. We are in an ever expanding age of understanding of our bodies and their connection to our minds. We have the opportunity to decide what we want to believe, and how that belief can change our living experience. Beliefs accompanied by action that support those beliefs shape our destiny.

Dr. Ernest Holmes, Founder of the Science of Mind and Spirit wrote, “The race-suggestion carries a strong belief about unpleasant conditions which may present themselves as one ‘grows old’. A treatment must be formulated as to recognize that there is but One Mind, consequently, no thought of depression, fear or suggestion of imperfection can flow through it. Man/Woman is birthless, deathless, ageless Spirit; and this should be the consciousness of our work.”

These are not just fanciful words. Spiritual Mind Treatment is a movement of energy in the direction of our thoughts. It is powerful and when used by one who understands its power, results are obtained that can be measured.

There is a Power that is life-giving that is the true essence of who and what we are. It doesn’t decay or die. It is Life itself and it is eternal. If our bodies are no longer useful to that Spirit which they clothe, we will shed them, but not until that time.  If the Spirit feels useful here, it will continue to support a body to be here.

It is my intention to live my life fully as I grow older, to keep my mind vibrant and strong and to continue to ask, “How can I serve?” There is a new science that has been birthed and it supports our wellness. It informs us that we have the opportunity to be the pioneers of a new generation of health birthed from joyful living. Gratitude is the energy that propels this wellbeingness, along with self-love. Even if we find ourselves suffering from various ailments right now, we can still live from the Spirit of wellness. Things do turn around.

I do not claim to know what my future holds, but I do know what I am right now. I know what you are, too. We are infinite, powerful sources and expressions of Divine Energy that is birthless and deathless. When I focus on that as my true identity and express myself from that place, I know I am shaping my destiny. I know that whatever the environment in which I live presents to me, when dissected from that place, has a completely different outcome than if I should fall into the morbidity of race consciousness surrounding old age. This is not a matter of denial, but a matter of focusing on my truth and those experiences that I want. It is a matter of living in the sweet present moment.

Love an Aloha,

Rev. Rita
