Spiritual Gardening

We are all planting spiritual gardens all the time. The question is are we planting them with a vision for all that we want to experience or are we unconsciously planting. Ernest Holmes, mystic, author and Founder of the Science of Mind and Spirit wrote “We have every reason to postulate a three-fold nature of Universal Being, which we shall call Spirit, Soul, and Body. We shall think of Spirit as the great Actor, Soul as the Medium of Its action and Body the result of its action.”

We are Spirit, Soul and Body expressing as humanity. We work individually in our own lives planting our dreams and desires into the creative medium and experiencing the outcome of what we plant. It’s really very simple, and yet at times, we make it difficult, wondering how something showed up in our lives. “We weren’t thinking about that…” we say or “Why would I have wanted this disaster?” Then when something amazing shows up, we think it is luck or just happenstance.

I know there is not such thing as luck, happenstance and that whatever is showing up in my life was planted by me, either consciously or sometimes consciously. Usually, for me it isn’t unconscious, but because I’ve chosen to soak my consciousness in a certain state of mind for a long enough period that it will take form as an unpleasant experience.  Not all thoughts demonstrate as our life, but our prevalent mental atmosphere will reflect itself back to us as our life.

The good news is this. “WE CAN CHANGE THE TREND OF CAUSATION WHICH HAS BEEN SET IN MOTION AT ANY TIME WE DECIDE TO DO SO.” (Ernest Holmes) He wrote this in capital letters to make sure we realize this. We are not victims of our circumstances but conscious creators of our destiny. We do not change conditions, but we can change our consciousness. Where we choose to look and affirm makes all the difference in the world. It is Law that our Consciousness is in charge of the direction of our lives.

I am grateful to have discovered this Power in responsibility for my destiny. I’ve proven it over and over in both directions. It isn’t easy to stay centered in the world of conditions, but if it weren’t possible, we’d all be lost and we are not. We are on the verge right now of a new world, a world where more and more of us are realizing our responsibility to cast powerful visions for our lives and for our planet. We are realizing the Power that is behind our beliefs, and learning to change those beliefs that need changing.

Many of us are creating amazing lives through the use of the Power of Mind in action. I have witnessed people lifting themselves out of the drudges of life to higher and higher states of conscious living. They are great examples to me. I take my place among those who are rising in consciousness. Our planet depends on us. I am so grateful because I know as each one of us claims our Spiritual Power, we influence the one Field of Energy, the One Mind and lift others.

Dr. Holmes once wrote that we were left alone to discover ourselves.  Some of us might ask why? Why don’t we just automatically get this and use this to our benefit. If that was the case, we wouldn’t be spontaneous, free beings. We would have reached a point in our evolution where there was no room for expansion. That is impossible. We are forever and ever expanding. New Laws reveal themselves all the time, not because they are new, but because we’ve grown in Intelligence. It’s called evolution and I believe it never ends. I do not bother myself with trying to figure out why, because I know I could never be satisfied. I’m more interested in learning how to use Law for my betterment and that of our planet.

Dr. Holmes wrote, “Everything comes from Intelligence. There is nothing but Unity; there is nothing but freedom; there is nothing but completeness, there is nothing but Totality. Begin at the beginning and reason this out, time after time, until all doubt disappears. …Such is the power of right thinking that it cancels and erases everything unlike itself. It answers every question, solves all problems, is the solution to every difficulty. It is like the Sunlight of Eternal Truth bursting through the clouds of obscurity and bathing all life in a celestial glory.”

Have you ever walked through a neighborhood where everyone takes pride in their gardens. It is a beautiful thing. Envision a world where everyone does the same with their spiritual gardens. What a neighborhood we would have; or as Mr. Rogers would say, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…”

In Love and Truth,

Rev. Rita
