Awareness is the first step to change. I, at one time, walked through my life unaware that what I thought and how I acted on those thoughts really reflected in my experiences. I was not malevolent in anyway, but I was unconscious. I didn’t know that I was using the creative process in every moment. The Creative Process simply put is “Thoughts are Things.”
Now, I am different. I walk the earth, knowing it is done unto me as I believe. It’s called “being in Principle,” and when I am off Principle, I know it right away. What I tell myself matters, and how I act upon what I tell myself matters even more.
Recently, someone told me they feared that they would not be able to have an intimate relationship, “ever!” Just this statement is a use of the creative process against ourselves. I’m not sure she was aware that just saying that and feeling that guaranteed that she would most definitely not create the experience of an intimate relationship. However, the good news is that she can turn that around anytime she decides to do so. Not by just telling herself that she is now open to intimate relationships, but by being in intimate loving relationship to herself and therefore attracting the same.
Many of us have heard the statement “Life is a mirror and reflects back to the thinker what he/she thinks into it.” This is the creative process in action. Thinking creates results in our life and our life reflects what we think most about. Are you aware of your prevalent thoughts? This is not meant to make you paranoid, but to make you aware that your thoughts are things. As I said, the good news, is that we can change the trend of causation in any moment we decide to do so.
If I were going to create a change in my life right now, I would become aware of my thoughts. I would align my thoughts with the change that I say I want. In other words, if I wanted to create the vacation of my dreams, I would start thinking about that vacation without putting up the obstacles of thought about it. Things like, “How will I afford that?” and “I could never take that much time off.” Instead, I would take time each day planning and visioning my vacation and making steps toward its fulfillment.
We cannot necessarily have what we want, but we can have those things that we become. The only way to truly become what we want is to think about it positively and reject the thoughts that do not support us. We begin to vibrate at the frequency of the change we want to make. Imagination is a powerful tool and it doesn’t cost a thing to use.
Really, being aware of our thoughts is the first step to change. There was a time in my life when I was unconscious of this fact. My life was lived by happenstance and I became subject to the Law of Averages. I do not live that way anymore. I am very conscious. At times, however, I still find myself thinking in a way that is not in alignment with how I say I want to live. Because I am very aware of myself, it’s as if an alarm goes off to wake me up. This comes from the time and effort I’ve put in to examine my life, my thoughts, and the creative process.
We all have this opportunity. I invite us to begin by becoming self-aware, dedicating ourselves to examining our life and actions and knowing that there is a Power within us that guides and directs our path. It’s the highest part of ourselves that moves through us. It is aware of our every thought and feeling. It is listening, and as we become conscious and aware of It, we are using our Power on purpose.
Awareness is the beginning of change. “The unexamined life is not worth living,” said Socrates. To me, this means that living on auto-pilot is not living a full and purpose-filled life. We have great potential and all the tools within us that we could ever need to succeed. Not using them is not living life fully.
