As this new year starts, I have many experiences I want to have and many things I want to do. I feel my creative energy flowing and I can name dozens of projects on the horizon that I would like to begin. What is it about the beginning of a new year that refreshes us and alerts us that we can begin again? I believe it is the collective consciousness of humanity and the belief in New Year’s Day that does this. We are forever subject to the collective consciousness until we decide to rise above it. That rising begins with examining our beliefs and taking note that “We are the Believer!”
The 19th Century healer Phineas Quimby once wrote “Man is his belief.” Whatever we believe is manifested as our life. We believe in things like war as the only solution. There is a belief in limitation and that financial prosperity is reserved for the minority. There is a belief there isn’t enough food in the world. There is a belief that disease is inevitable. Most recently, we believe that there is an illness called COVID 19 that keeps reinventing itself and perhaps will never go away. It is done unto us as we believe.
The question for me is: How are my beliefs serving me and my life? Am I able to grow and expand? Am I able to experience the things I want to experience or are my beliefs holding me back? I ask myself this question almost every day. When the answer is yes, I work on changing that belief. I am the believer, after all.
Today, as I continue to travel into 2022, I am working on my beliefs surrounding everything in my life. I am doing this because I am interested in expansion. I am interested in learning more and being more. I am interested in giving all my gifts. In am interested in serving humanity in a bigger way.
COVID 19 has given us a big opportunity to check in with our beliefs. If we are in the New Thought philosophy, and we truly practice it, we have even more to question because our teaching is based on Spiritual Mind Healing. As I continue to study and read, to take quantum science courses, and to meditate and do my own Spiritual Mind Treatments every day, I am getting more and more convinced that the practice of the Science of Mind is more essential than ever.
The new science (Quantum Science) tells us there is an energy behind everything that moves through us as us. Everything is Energy. Energy responds to our thoughts and beliefs. If we truly want change in our life, to heal our bodies, to be a loving force in our world, I invite us to check in with our beliefs. They might not be aligned with what we say we want. They might have been ingrained in us since childhood, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t let them go and plant new beliefs. We are not destined to repeat the genetics of our parents. Epigenetics is a real thing.*
The beliefs of the majority of the world are leading the way of the world, but they do not have to lead your world. “One alone in Consciousness with the Infinite constitutes a complete majority.” This means that what you believe as an individual matters. Every one of our thoughts matter to the whole.
I am growing my belief that perfect health is available and our birthright. I am not against medicine, but I am for the belief that lasting healing takes place on the spiritual, emotional and mental level. When Ernest Holmes, the Founder of the Science of Mind, wrote that he looked forward to the day when science and religion walked hand in hand, he also wrote, “Any scientist who refuses to accept intangible values has no adequate basis for the values he has already discovered.”
Everything starts in the unseen and then must be proven. This is our task because we are all scientists of our lives. “Principles are forever hidden” until we prove them. If we cannot prove our theories and philosophy by living it, we have nothing to stand on. Once I see the reality of my life, if I am not happy with it, instead of trying to change the outside things, I must go back to the belief and change it. It really is simple science. The hardest thing about it is making the time to do it. Loving ourselves through the process is important for Love will guide our way.
Love and Aloha,
Rev. Rita Andriello-Feren, Healer, Teacher, Spiritual Director CSL Kaua`i
*Epigenetics is the study of mechanisms that switch genes on or off. As it is believed that epigenetics holds the key to many of life’s mysteries, our initiative is to bring awareness and knowledge of epigenetics to a broader audience without neglecting the important, scientific aspects.
