To Yield

:”To Yield: to surrender or submit (oneself) to another… to give up and cease resistance or contention…”

The two above definitions reflect what I am feeling lately. I am being asked to yield. To whom? To Spirit. What exactly does this mean? Am I giving something up? Am if totally out of control? What does it mean to yield to Spirit?

In my case, it means to stop trying to control how things are happening. It means to let go and let God. It means that there is a place within me that knows a higher good, and when I let go to that place, my life flows with ease and grace. I am in the Universal Flow. But, who is this I and who is letting go?

I believe that each of us has a finite consciousness that is tied to the world of conditions. This part of ourselves looks out and sees what it sees and creates from what it sees. Let’s say it has to do with our finances. We might be in a tight spot. We look at our checkbook, and all we see is what we do not have. We do not realize that in the unseen, there are unlimited possibilities for more to come forth. Note the saying “a fixed income.” My spiritual teacher use to ask: “Who fixed it?” The answer was always “we did.” We did with the limited way we base our life on what we think we do not have. This part of ourselves waits to believe when it sees, and it always sees what it believes.

However, there is an Infinite self, the one that realizes that it is always co-creating with a Law that is unlimited, and as Ralph Waldo Emerson put it “doesn’t know big or small,” This is the Consciousness that I yield to today.

When I find myself locked into the consciousness of the planet in regards to limitation and lack, I step back and above it into a higher consciousness. I yield to this Higher Consciousness, which is the real me, the Infinite Me. I stop looking at conditions, and I realize that I am new in every moment. “Be ye new by the renewing your mind.” I call it First Cause. It’s never been touched by anything in the physical world. The Quantum Field is the new name for it. There are waves of possibility that have not been formed. We move from particle to wave depending on our focus and attention. When we are creating a new way of being, we have to become more wave than particle. We have to yield to Spirit.

And, when we do, we yield unlimited possibilities. Just like a tree yields fruit in its perfect time. So do we yield, when we yield to Spirit. We are always producing our lives according to whom we yield. This being said, it isn’t always easy to yield to Spirit. The reality of our daily life can pull us back to seeing only what is in front of us. This is the journey of life or what mystic, Dr. Ernest Homes would say is “proving that Spiritual thought force is greater than material resistance.”

Today, I am committed to yielding everything to Spirit.
