Today, is the midsummer’s moon called the Buck Moon. Apparently, it is called the Buck Moon because it is at this point in the middle of summer that the Buck’s antlers grow bigger and stronger. Nature’s purpose in this is so that the buck can attract its mate, fight if needed and, of course, mate. The species must propagate itself. This struck me today. I am in amazement at how Nature provides what is necessary when it becomes necessary. Ernest Holmes, Founder of Religious Science would call this “emergent evolution.” When Nature makes a demand upon itself, it meets that demand immediately.

But, what of us? Do we believe this to be true for us? When we are needing something, do we trust that it will be provided for us? In my experience, I witness much need in the world and in people. I’m not sure that the first thought one has is that their needs will be met. Emma Curtis Hopkins, the 19th/20th Century mystic, author and healer once wrote that “we have no needs.” This is a broad statement, but if I really think about it in the light of emergent evolution, it is a true statement.

Let me talk from my own experience of yesterday and this past week. I have spent the week getting my self organized to complete the application for my Doctor of Consciousness degree from the Emerson Institute of Theology. As I once told my husband when he was going to college, it isn’t so much what we learn in college, but the strategies we learn in order to maneuver ourselves in, through and out of college.

My week was spent finding past certificates, filling out applications, finishing manuscripts, paying fees and finally taking my final exam. As the week began and I was asked to hand in college transcripts from 30 years ago and ministerial and practitioner certificates, I panicked for a moment. I don’t have the best filing system due to so many moves. Then as I meditated, I realized that this was a time to live the truth of emergent evolution. I stated to myself that the path would be cleared and if this was indeed for my highest good now, it would be easy to put these last moments together and find all material needed. Within an hour, the certificates and all needs were in my hands ready to Emerson.

The next would be the exam. It was downloaded in my computer and ready to go. Would I be able to expound on all those questions? Upon getting into bed on Friday night, I was reminded of the story of the mystic and author, Judge Thomas Troward when he had to take a test with many metaphysical questions. He was uncertain, but upon sleeping he called upon the Universe, knowing that the Infinite Mind held all information and knowledge and that it was accessible to all, including him. He simply went to sleep. The next day he took the test and he was inspired to answer the questions. The exam reviewer marveled at how much he knew about metaphysics, exclaiming that he must have studied for many years.

The night before my exam, I did a similar thing. I couldn’t study for this test, but I knew that after several decades in this Teaching that the information that I needed would be right there in the Unified Field. I should simply just open up to receiving it. As I took the test, yesterday, I felt that flow of energy move through me. I could also feel when I hesitated and grasped onto my own mind, trying to process from the ego mind. However, when I let go, things just flowed easily.

I know and believe that emergent evolution is available to all of us. We were not left here on earth to fend for ourselves. We are Infinite Beings with everything here for us. If the Universe can grow a buck’s antlers when needed, are we any less? The difference between us and a buck is that we have the choice as to whether or not to accept the Universe’s gift. So, we only have to open up and accept it. In today’s reading of the Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes, this quote summarizes what I have written here.

“The Universe is inexhaustible. It is limitless, knows no bounds and has no confines. We are not depending on a reed shaken by the wind, but on the Principle of Life Itself, for all that we have or ever shall need. It is not some power, or a great power, it is ALL POWER. All we have to do is to believe, never wavering, no matter what happens. As we do this, we shall find that things are steadily coming our way and that they are coming without that awful effort which destroys the peace of mind of the majority of the race. We know that there can be no failure in God’s Mind, and this Mind is the Power on which we are dependent.”

What a time in our history to come to this realization. Many of us are being so emotionally and mentally challenged by the circumstances in our political and world situation. We do not know where to turn or whether things will get better or worse. What I know is that there is a Power that is ALL POWER and we can rely on it. It lies within each and every one of us. It will carry us through everything. It will meet every need. It is not outside of us, but is the very essence of who we are. What if this current experience is simply a moment of an upgrade in our evolution as a species? What if it is calling for us to stop looking to the outside and to look within for all our answers? What if as we find those answers the problems and challenges cease to be that, and instead become opportunities for us to remember who we are and what we are truly capable of? I believe emergent evolution is at play here. We can trust it and have faith in it. It is a reciprocal Universe, and as we do, we can expect all our needs to be met through us, as us. Unseen forces are coming to our aid in this very moment. However, as we believe in emergent evolution, we cannot just sit back. We must act with it in integrity, faith and passion.
