Holding the Light in a World That Forgets It

“We become conscious of darkness only when we are without faith—for faith is ever the light of our day and the light on our way.” — Ernest Holmes

I could look out into the world and see only darkness. I choose not to. Instead, I see transformation and shift. In the chaos that accompanies transformation, I catch what is mine to do—and I shine my light.

What’s the point of seeing only darkness? That would mean I am blind to what is also present. Where will that get me? I understand the power of consciousness. What I project outward is reflected back to me. So, I ask myself: Do I want to see darkness—or do I want to have faith in the light and ever-present Divine Power moving through and as everything?

I choose to walk through my fear. I do not deny the wrongs being committed through hostility, anger, and hatred. I simply choose what I focus on. Darkness is the absence of light—and I turn the light of my consciousness on now.

I reach out to those who need assistance—not to those who refuse my candle. I do not carry my lighter around trying to light candles that do not exist. I light my own candle, hold it high, and allow those who see it to come and light theirs.

There is a line from the musical A Little Night Music spoken by a character who refuses to change. He says to the woman who loves him, “I was searching for rescue with no intention of being saved.” This line powerfully guides me toward those who are ready for assistance.

We are lighthouses. Lighthouses do not go into the ocean searching for ships that are lost. They hold the light, and the ships are guided home. They are not conscious of darkness; they are conscious of the light.

Right now, in 2026, I see many lighthouses beaming love, compassion, courage, and right action. I join with them. I turn myself over to my own light—and I live it.

Love and Light,
