Wisdom of the Ages

THE WISDOM OF THE AGES

What is wisdom? That is the first question we must agree upon in order to read this blog in the way it is intended.

Metaphysically speaking, wisdom is the direct knowing of Truth. It is an inner recognition of unity. It is the voice of the deeper Self expressing through you. It does not depend on external proof. It is the ability to see beyond appearances into the spiritual reality beneath them.

For myself, it is when I know that I know.

The mystics of the ages—past and present—have given us much in the way of their truth. The agreement among them speaks to the validity of what they convey through their writings, their teachings, and the example of their lives.

Wisdom moves beyond knowledge. It is the natural result of what we gather through experience and life. Some of us live from wisdom, while others remain rooted in knowledge alone. We often believe that the more we know about the outer, conditional world, the smarter we are.

But what about you? Where do you stand in relation to wisdom in your own life?

Ernest Holmes wrote:

“The subjective mind (or the subconscious) is the seat of memory and contains a remembrance of everything that has ever happened to the outer man. It also contains the family and race characteristics. It retains these memories in a certain sense as mental pictures. The subjective mind might be compared to a picture gallery, upon whose walls are hung the pictures of all the people whom the individual has ever known, and all the incidents which he has ever experienced.

This helps explain why we think the thoughts we do and sometimes call them “wisdom.” It can also point us toward something greater—the possibility of accessing the wisdom of the ages.

Everything we could ever need to know is already here. We simply choose what we respond to. And, we respond through vibration.

We can tune into the wisdom of prophets, sages, and mystics when we are open and conscious of that possibility. We are always at choice.

For myself, when I truly want to know something, I get quiet. I sit in the silence. I ask my question—and I wait.

Sometimes the answer does not come right away. Sometimes it arrives later in the day—through a conversation, something I read, or words spoken nearby.

The wisdom of the ages is always available. We have access to it. It is held within our own subconscious, because we are one with the Infinite Subconscious Mind. If everything is already here, then it becomes a matter of tuning in.

And the way we tune in is through our vibration.

When our vibration rests in love, we receive the frequency of loving truth. When it is rooted in fear, we receive more of the same—and call it what we know.

The consciousness of the race—the collective mind—is very real, and it can appear as our own thinking. Right now, it feels especially important to discern the difference between our own inner knowing and what we may be absorbing from the collective.

We have the opportunity, in every moment, to access the wisdom of the ages and ask any question that calls to us. It is all here. Right where we are. Outer conditions do not give us inner answers, but they do reveal what we have been thinking.

What are you tuning into right now?

With Love,

Rev. Dr. Rita Andriello-Feren
