Spiritual Pride?

Spiritual Pride

What does it mean? Am I spiritually proud? I remember a quote by Ernest Holmes that hung over the door in our Center in Kapaa that said, “Whoever you are, be proud. You are a Divine idea in the Mind of God.” At first glance, this quote would seem dualistic, but when we realize that the Mind of God and our mind are one, there can be no dualism.

If I am a Divine idea in the Mind of God, what is there not to be proud of? What does it mean to be a Divine idea? Well, first of all, it means that in all ways we are perfect. Perhaps you will say, “I’m not perfect. I have this disease or that problem, or I am always making mistakes of some kind. I’m definitely not the best parent.” All of this might be true in an earthly sense, but in a spiritual sense, there is only one truth. Your energy is perfect. You might be able to put a cloak of insecurity around it, but inside that cloak is a perfect Spirit that has never been touched by anything.

I have to remind myself of this every day in my meditations and Spiritual Mind Treatments. Why is it not easier to remember? The 3D world of conditions has quite a pull on us. It wants to drag us down into believing only what we see. It’s as simple as that, and we are more than that. We have the capacity through our imagination and our inner Knowing and wisdom to think beyond the 3D world, to realize that the 3D world is a world of illusions formed through our perceptions.

We live in a time when it is important to remember our Divinity. We are being pulled into complacency and the feeling of “nothing is working” and “what’s the use.” We must completely disregard these feelings and go within, where the truth of us lives. This is not spiritual bypassing; it is the core of who we are and what the world needs right now.

However, do not be confused: we are not here to save the world. We are here to remember who we are and in doing so become an example of what is possible for others.

For myself, this happens through my creativity – my writing, my singing, my speaking, and all the ways that I express myself as a Spiritual Being.

This month I launched my new book Once Upon a Rainbow: A Trilogy of Queer Fairytales of Belonging, Liberation and Joy. This book came out of a desire to create stories that would be inclusive and loving. It came out of the urge to change a paradigm in the most essential way we teach our children – through stories.

This book is meant to stimulate conversations and invite us to think anew about the most basic and yet most sacred part of being human – Love.

I am proud of this book because I dare to write about things that sometimes people do not want to talk about. Am I spiritually proud? Yes, I am, because the Spiritual Being I am is called to express Itself in a way that is in service to the world and which glorifies our differences and specialness.

“Whoever you are, be proud. You are a Divine idea in the Mind of God.”
