It’s been raining A LOT here on Kaua’i. It got me thinking about the story of Noah and the Ark. I don’t know if the story is actually true. I believe more in the Bible as a metaphorical history of our spiritual evolution; however, the story serves me today as a metaphor for what is going on in my life.
If you remember the story, Noah was told by God that a great flood would come and destroy the world. Noah and his family would be saved. He was to build an ark and take two of each kind with him to keep life going on earth. Noah didn’t doubt God, but proceeded to do what he was told – build an ark, etc. There was no rain in sight and I can imagine passersby ridiculing him and his family as they got ready and packed. And, then it did rain and Noah and his family were saved.
We are looking for a home right now. Our lease here in her present home is over on June 1. We must have a home. There really is no doubt in my mind that this will occur. A home will make itself available for us in the perfect time. However, right now nothing is in sight. Do we sit here and wait or do we build our ark so we are ready. Building an ark means getting ready.
The answer is obvious to me. If you really believe something is, then you would begin to move your feet. So, right now, the moving of those feet for me is to pack. As we do what we do in the spiritual world – treat, meditate, visualize, we are also packing in the physical world. We are acting as if we are moving.
Life takes place on three planes – the spiritual, the mental and the physical. When all three of these planes are recognized by us and lived, life flows. A material world view would think from the physical plane. A material world view would wait to believe after something has happened. A spiritual world view thinks from the spiritual to the physical. If you have a spiritual perspective, you believe first.
What’s going on in your life? Are you up against a challenge? Are you waiting for something to show up before you know all is well or are you thinking spiritually and then acting from that place?
I do believe that life is for us and not against us. Whatever is here in our life is here for our good. It is asking us to wake up and give our attention to our spiritual selves. Spirit does guide the way and the physical does flow from it.
I trust that right now and strengthen that knowing by acting from that place. If all I can do is to begin to pack, I do. Emma Curtis Hopkins has a prayer that says something like this: Ask to know that which should be done by me and let Spirit do the rest.
We’ll know what is ours to do. The Power that we are using will carry us the rest of the way. The more that we can look back on our destination as already having happened, the quicker we will be here. It will seem instantaneous. So, build your ark and get ready. Don’t wait.
