Last night in a class here at the Center, we discussed the idea of something called “The Unconscious Invitation.” This idea, as presented by Dr. Ernest Holmes, simply states that we are always creating experiences, consciously or unconsciously. We are inviting experiences into our life by our prevalent and strongest emotions.
This makes sense to me as I have proven to myself. Once I remember I had such a strong emotion about not going to work, I hated my job so much. The next thing I knew I was involved in a fender-bender. My strong emotion associated with not going to work was fulfilled. I didn’t go to work that day.
So, according to Dr. Holmes, the Universe is always conspiring in our favor. Although we do not create a particular experience, if we do not make conscious choices about out lives, It will bring us what we earnestly declare with the most powerful emotion in the quickest most logical way.
In my case with the fender-bender, I believe my belief in life and living won out over having a more serious accident. I received just at the level of my belief in the moment, although it was unconsciously invited.
We are a mixed bag of emotions when we do not live our life consciously. Our emotions are running the show according to this idea. In accordance with the Quantum Physics model, an elevated emotion married to an intention does create our experience. This must be true whether its conscious or unconscious.
Unfortunately, many of us are walking around and not addressing our beliefs, thoughts and emotions, and we are having a mixed bag of experiences. Does being conscious guarantee us a challenge-free life? Well, I think the more we can make decisions and choices about our lives, and truly accept our good, the less cumbersome our life becomes. I also know that we are growing and expanding and evolving at all times. We are learning how to use our powerful minds on purpose, and sometimes it is not easy in this ever-changing world as we relate to different people, jobs, the worldly challenges, illness, economics, war, etc. We are doing the best we can under very challenging conditions. We should always love and appreciate ourselves for our efforts to live the best life possible.
I am fortunate that I’ve chosen a life that includes intense introspection. I have chosen, to the best of my ability, to be very conscious of what I am doing with my mind. I have chosen to make it my daily practice to evolve and grow. It’s the only way I can help those who come to me for help.
So, in regards to the Unconscious Invitation, my biggest and most heartfelt suggestion is to love ourselves. If we find ourselves in a life challenge, it is not about blaming ourselves or even asking ourselves “what were we thinking.” If we care to know, it is about asking, “what is needing to be known here?” What in me is looking for growth and expansion right now? What am I needing?
All of these questions should be asked with sincere love of oneself, gentleness and the knowing that at all times, the Universe is just calling us back to itself in wholeness, peace and unconditional love. It wants nothing of us. It wants everything for us. We are the Universe at the level that we are aware we are. No one is ever lost and we are all on the path home to ourselves.
Love and Aloha,
