Every Second There is a Choice

“We cannot live a choiceless life. Every day, every moment, every second, there is a choice. If it were not so, we would not be individuals.” Ernest Holmes

Today, “the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022, holding that there was no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion.” History.com

How do you feel about this? You have a choice. Although, we may not be able to change what has happened right now or even want to change it, we are at choice. We are at choice to have our feelings about this. We are at choice in how we react to this ruling. We are at choice on how we will proceed from this moment to the next and to the next.

I could tell you how I feel about it, but that is not really important. What is important is that each of us go deep within ourselves and think about how we will proceed now that this is done. I trust that we will proceed in peaceful action, whatever that action is. I trust we will proceed with intelligence and thought. We are governed by a Universal Law that makes us subject to our choices. In other words, at some point, we will reap the rewards or punishment of our choice as it plays out in our own life.

Today, I understand, as my dear friend and colleague Rev. Jonathan Zenz of Unity of Tucson said, “We must keep our “Spiritual Cool,” no matter what our choice is. Also, he spoke on prayer. “Prayer is not an answered prayer if it does not propel us into action.”

So, my dear readers, think deeply, look within, whatever ever your form of prayer or meditation is use it on this important day. Our country seems very divided about a lot of things. Let us let that division shift and allow us to understand, be compassionate and work the conflicts of our own mind out before we march and take action.

Celebrating Choice and Aloha,

Rev. Rita Andriello-Feren, Co-Spiritual Director CSL Kaua`i, Spiritual Coach, Author
