In the Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes it states: “We mean by demonstration, bringing into our experience something we had not experienced before, bringing it in as the result of conscious thought, and unless it is possible to do this, our whole science is a mistake and a delusion. …But there is a Divine Principle and what it does for us, it must do through us.”
I have heard many argue for the first part of this statement, protesting that they practice the Science of Mind and nothing happens. I understand this protest because I, at one time, made it myself. However, because I continued to believe in the second part of the statement, I continued to practice until I had embodied the Principle to the point of KNOWING that I was not responsible for allowing the Principle to work through me without protest, but only acceptance and allowing and surrender. “Our part in the demonstration is to set the word in motion, thus compelling through the Law of Subjectivity, the result or manifestation.”
In case you are unsure what is meant by the “Law of Subjectivity,” it is your subconscious mind that holds your beliefs and creates the out picturing of your life. “The Subjective state of man’s thought is the sum total of his thinking and knowing.” Think about it… how could we see anything else in the world but what we believe to be reality? I know, for myself. I can have the same experience as someone else, but experience it in a totally different way. Life is what we perceive and believe. Does this mean I live in a bubble. No, it means I choose to perceive what is happening in the relative world from a higher more eternal perspective.
This whole concept is the basis of the Science of Mind teaching, the philosophy of the great mystics and of modern day Quantum Science. “As above, so below.” What I have witnessed, on the other hand, is many of us doing our best to solve life’s issues in the world of form, not realizing that, although it is important to work in the conditional/relative/objective world, it is not lasting if our subjective state of thought is contradicting what we so earnestly are trying to do.
Therefore, if we want a real and lasting change in our life, we must work from above first. “Therefore, when there is no longer anything in our mentality, which denies our word, a demonstration will be made; nothing can stop it for the Law is Absolute.”
So, this being the case, and I believe it is, our work is in clearing out anything that is contradicting what we say we want to experience in life. This would include negative thoughts about ourselves and others, beliefs that say we are limited, and the continual mental repetition that states we are unclear, don’t know, or the word, “can’t.”
However, instead of trying so hard to push things away, I think it is better to focus on what we want to experience so much so that there is no room for the other thoughts. The only way I know to do this is by waking up in the morning, meditating, giving Spiritual Mind Treatment, expressing gratitude and walking out into my life living in the action of my desire. Whenever something comes up that contradicts that desire, accept that it is merely a thought that can be changed and change it. Practice does make perfect.
Really, this is all very simple. I’m not sure who said this, but it fits perfectly. “The teaching is simple; the student is difficult.”

My book “What Do I Need to KNOW? 101 Thoughts That Changed My Life,” is available on AMAZON.
I read the other day that we don’t have to manifest abundance, we simply have to remove the limitations and obstacles we put in the way of the abundance that already surrounds us. We just open ourselves, on the receiving AND the giving ends, to channel the blessings being freely provided. What a relief! What joy! Thank you, Spirit of Life, for allowing me to be an instrument of your limitless abundance!
