The Law of Good

“All law must be subjective; the soil knows how to take a seed and make a plant from it; it does not know whether it is making a tomato or a potato.” — Ernest Holmes

To understand this quote, one must recognize that the “soil” Holmes refers to is a metaphor for the Creative Medium. As he wrote, “We are surrounded and infused with a Creative Medium that takes the impress of our thought and acts upon it.”

The implication of this is profound. It means that what we decide, believe, think, and feel has the potential to out-picture as our experience. This is Law. It has no judgment—just as the soil “knows how” but does not “know what.” We are the deciders.

Some may ask, “Well, what about evil?” This perspective helps explain why evil exists in the world. Consciously or unconsciously, we are all using the Law at all times. When I speak of evil, I am referring to the misuse of the Law—the destructive use of creative power. Because this Law has no judgment, misuse is possible, and we’ve seen it throughout history, in our own lives, and very much so in current times.

So, where is salvation in regard to evil? The Law of Cause and Effect is always in operation. Eventually, what we put out does return to us. In the meantime, let’s spend more energy considering how we can use this magnificent Law for Good—our own Good and the Good of those around us.

The only way to use this Law is through the mind. Everything begins in mind first. Not every thought manifests—only those we hold consistently and with deep feeling. Yet, I’ve noticed lately that manifestation seems subtler and faster. Have you noticed that things come into form more quickly these days?

Lately, I’ve been doing my best to guard my thoughts and shift my beliefs when needed. I practice this through meditation and through Spiritual Mind Treatment—also known as Affirmative Prayer.

It’s equally important to keep our vibration high. It’s easy to “doom scroll” the Internet and get emotionally involved in things we cannot control. It’s one thing to stay informed, but quite another to dwell on negativity, arguments, or misinformation. I try to remain aware, intelligent, and focused on where I can truly help—most often, that means tending to what’s close to home. The outer world is but a reflection of the inner world. We are all entangled.

Let us, then, use the Law to create a beautiful life—for healing, prosperity, and radiant relationships. Let us focus on what we desire. Let us plant those seeds in the soil of life and watch them grow.

Love and Aloha,
