This blog is based on a message I gave at CSL Kaua`i on 10/30/22.

As soon as we found out we were forced to move from our home after 4.5 years, we began to look for a new home to rent. There is a consciousness on Kaua`i that it is difficult to find a home to buy or to rent. People look at you, shake their heads and say things like “There’s slim pickings.” Then they say your budget is not big enough to find anything of worth, even though you presently live in a palace on that same budget. As a man/woman thinketh, so it is.!

Then, there are the scams. I won’t go into detail, but to summarize, basically, they ask you for your deposit and first month’s and tell you upon seeing the home, if you do not like it, you can always get your money back. There are plenty of these scams on Craigslist and elsewhere, and now I can spot them as soon as I open the listing. I always do a special prayer that others will not get bamboozled in their desperateness. I can see how it could happen. For myself, I state to myself that I am always guarded, guided and protected. I am Divine Intelligence.

In regards to finding a home by our deadline, I treat for it in the same manner. There is a definite Law. When you make a demand upon it, the Universe it meets it. S.C.A.M. which I define as “Spirit Can Always Manifest, is my new affirmation whenever a limited feeling sneaks up on me.

For example today, when we found out we needed to replace the front tires on our car immediately. In fact, they are bald. I went to Costco, where I was greeted by a busy clerk, who literally left her counter and came out to my car with me to make sure she had the right tire size. She couldn’t find the tires at that moment, but she took my number and actually called me back to let me know she had two tires for me. “Spirit Can Always Demonstrate” if we can do our best to get out of the way. If we can treat, move our feet, trust and flow, and follow our intuition without desperation, or doubt and fear, things move in perfect time.

Today wasn’t the easiest day to do that, and I was confronted by many bumps in the road, but I allowed Spirit to take the wheel and took the ride.

There are two things I learned from reading the Science of Mind text recently. We discussed this first one in our Wisdom Wednesday this last week. There is something called “Emergent Evolution,” which Ernest Holmes defines as “the type of evolution that takes place from the necessity of the condition.” He gives the metaphor that “if we needed fingers, we’d grow them.” I thought of it being similar to the story about the woman who picks up the car when her loved one is trapped underneath. It’s called hysterical strength or the hidden Hercules.

“In 2012, Lauren Kornacki, a 22-year-old woman in Glen Allen, Virginia, raised a BMW 525i off her father when the car toppled from a jack. Seven years earlier, a man named Tom Boyle hoisted a Chevy Camaro, freeing a trapped cyclist in Tucson, Arizona.”

These are true stories. Where does this strength come from? We are much stronger than we think we are. As Ernest Holmes once wrote, “When things look the worst is the time to do our best work.”

I believe this and it has given me much comfort in times like I am experiencing now. The other point Dr. Holmesmakes is this.

“The Universe is inexhaustible. It is limitless, knows no bounds and has no confines. We are not depending on a reed shaken by the wind, but the Principle of Life Itself, for all that we have or ever shall need. It is not some power, or a great power, it is ALL POWER. All we have to do is believe, never wavering, no matter what happens. As we do this, we shall find that things are steadily coming our way and that they are coming without that awful effort which destroys the peace of mind of the majority of the race. We know that there can be no failure in God’s Mind, and this Mind is the Power on which we are depending.”

It isn’t always easy to have this much faith, especially when the world is screaming out the opposite. However, for those of us who can, much is promised.

“Principle is Absolute and in so far as any individual can actually induce, within consciousness upon Principle, a definite, concrete acceptance of his desire …it will manifest, even though every thought on earth had to change to compel it. If it were a bit of information that was needed for the demonstration that only one person on earth knew – and that person was in the center of Africa (or had to come out from behind her counter at Costco, the information would be produced.” Ernest Holmes

At this point in my own evolution, I have no choice, but to believe in these spiritual feats of the Power that lies dormant in most of us. I want to grow this muscle, and it is times like this when I am up against a challenge that I have the opportunity to do so.

The other night I had a dream. I was auditioning for a part and singing “Summertime.” I was so tired that I fell asleep while I was singing. The woman for whom I was auditioning came over and whispered gently in my ear. “You need to rest. Don’t worry. I own eight homes on Kaua`i and there will be one for you.” Literally, my subconscious is working on this. This isn’t just true for me, but for all of us. When in doubt in any situation, just remember, Spirit can always demonstrate and will. It’s the only kind of scam that is worth investing in.
