“If we know that the power we are dealing with is Principle and not personality; if we know and believe that Mind is the only Actor, Cause, Effect, Substance, Intelligence, Truth, and Power that there is; if we have a real embodiment; then we can demonstrate. If we lack, if we are poor, if we are without friends, if we are without opportunity, we should be sure to erase from our consciousness any sense of lack. We erase thought from consciousness by pouring in an opposite thought. The thought meets the other and neutralizes its effect. It rubs it out just as we rub a chalk mark off a board. We must maintain a consistent, positive, aggressive mental attitude in the Truth.”
—Ernest Holmes (The Science of Mind, p. 279)
My husband and I were sitting in conversation today after reading this paragraph. After so many years in this teaching, we realize how easy it is to slip back into negative thinking, especially when the world looks chaotic and bleak. Negative thinking versus positive thinking is not a whimsical idea. It is scientific, in that it is proven that when we continue to think the same thoughts over and over, our brain registers this and releases signals into our physicality in the form of chemicals that either create health or illness.
It goes even beyond this. We are pure vibration, and in our vibration we send signals out to the field, which mirrors back to us identical vibrational experiences. I write about this in regard to what our world looks like now. I believe there is a shift occurring, and so many people are realizing that it is the vibration of peace and love that we must emit if we are to bring peace and love into the world. This doesn’t mean that there won’t be suffering, loss, and tragedy. It simply means we must persist despite that.
The murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, and the reaction of our country in massive peaceful protest, are an example of keeping our minds stayed on peace and love. It might be easy for me to say this as I sit here on an island in the middle of the Pacific, but I believe that what I think, how I act, and what I contribute to in thought and action matters. Renee and Alex are me. The ICE agents who murdered them are me. We are all connected in one field of energy. Justice will prevail because Love is the stronger force in all situations and will neutralize the effects of hate if we are persistent and, as Ernest Holmes says above, “maintain a consistent, positive, aggressive mental attitude in Truth.”
First, I believe we must all take responsibility for our negligence of thought that brought us here and then know that we can turn it around right now. If we do not take responsibility, we have no power to change it. Responsibility is not blame. It is acceptance of our power as beings of vibration, energy, mind, and heart.
We can do this. We can bring peace to our planet. I heard a mantra yesterday from Tony Robbins: “I will persist until I succeed!” If we know what we want, are clear about it, and remain steadfast, success is assured. For myself, I find ways right where I am not just to keep my thoughts aligned, but to take positive action.
