“I am on a solid foundation.” — Martha Creek
Are you on a solid foundation?
Do you know who you are?
Do you know how sacred you are?
I can only imagine that those who are suffering so much right now—whether through the wars that rampage across our globe, or through discrimination and bullying of all kinds—might not feel that foundation or that sacredness.
It cannot be our responsibility to make anyone feel anything. But I believe it is my responsibility to know this within myself—and not just about myself. Can I know this truth about each person, no matter who they are or how they are acting?
I believe everything begins in mind, in consciousness. It can begin nowhere else. In order to change what is outside, I must first change what lives in consciousness. My foundational thought is to know who I am.
Someone recently posted on my page that those of us who believe we are emanations of God or Source energy are sinners and blasphemers. I’m sorry they feel that way. Everyone has the freedom to believe what they believe. I cannot impose my beliefs on others. I can only be who I am and do my best to remain in an accepting and loving state of being.
At the same time, I do not need to tolerate hatred, bigotry, or ignorance of human rights. The philosophy and faith I follow teaches that we can envision and create whatever we want for our lives—as long as it does not harm others.
There is a Principle of Cause and Effect that operates through all of us. We might think those who wield power over others are not getting their due, and that we must do something to make sure justice happens. Yet I believe all of us are equal under the One Law. I call it Principle: what you put out comes back. We live in a boomerang universe.
We can already see this principle at work through the many people who are standing up and saying, enough is enough. We want peace. We want love. We want compassion. And we will live these values every day until there are so many of us that everything else dissolves back into the nothingness from which it came.
Some of us may die, but we are eternal—and we know it.
Those of us who live this way know that peace within consciousness brings peace into the world of conditions. There is wisdom in the saying, “Those who live by the sword shall perish by the sword.” It is another way of saying we cannot change anything by living from the same energy that created it.
I envision a world that works for everyone. I envision those of us who live from a solid foundation of love, trusting that foundation and standing upon it—even when the whole world seems to be crumbling around us. Perhaps it must crumble before something new can rise from the ashes. I pray that we do not give up hope.
In the words of Anne Frank:
“It’s a wonder I haven’t abandoned all my ideals; they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, despite everything, that people are truly good at heart. It’s utterly impossible for me to build my life on a foundation of chaos, suffering and death. I see the world being slowly transformed into a wilderness, I hear the approaching thunder that, one day, will destroy us too, I feel the suffering of millions. And yet, when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more”
— Anne Frank, July 15, 1944
Let us all continue to look up at the sky!
