Part 5

Let’s Review
We’ve taken a few steps into the Art and Science of Spiritual Mind Treatment, and I want to offer you some tools to reinforce what we’ve already explored.
First, we’ve acknowledged that it can be difficult to cross the river of change. We’ve looked at the idea that the body and mind often try to keep us in our current conditions because they feel familiar—and therefore safe. Real change requires a persistent decision that the life we are currently experiencing is no longer satisfying.
I know for myself that even after many years of study and practice, I still discover thoughts that persist—subtle patterns that keep me from fully standing in my Power as a Spiritual Being. So, what do we do? Here is a simple tool I use. I say no to those thoughts. Because not every thought deserves agreement. When a repetitive or limiting thought begins to loop in my mind—especially around something like finances—I interrupt it and replace it with a deeper truth. One affirmation I have used for many years is this:“ When the Universe makes a demand upon Itself, it must meet the demand.” This statement has been foolproof for me. When I contemplate it, even for a few moments, something shifts. I am reminded that whatever is showing up in my life is not here to defeat me—it is here to grow my consciousness. It is an opportunity.
Ernest Holmes said: “When things look the worst is the time to do your best work.” Without challenge, there would be no expansion. But if we interpret challenges as punishment or setbacks, then that is exactly how they will appear in our lives.
There is something I like to call Spiritual Logic. It is a way of thinking that arises from a higher understanding of life. It does not attempt to manipulate outer conditions but instead aligns with Universal Law. This kind of awareness develops as we begin to understand that life is governed by principles—principles that express themselves through us in both structure and spontaneity.
We have been working with Step One of Treatment—Recognition—the awareness of an All-Power, a Presence that is the source of everything. It is the invisible substance in which we live, move, and have our being. As we continue to meditate, to become still, and to immerse ourselves in nature, this Presence becomes more and more real to us.
From there, we moved into Identification—claiming our place within this Infinite Intelligence. We begin to release old ideas of limitation and recognize that we are worthy of the Good that is always available—abundant, flowing, and ever-present.
One of the most powerful ways to embody this identity is through joy. When we engage in what we love—what we are passionate about—we naturally align with Divine Intelligence and express it.
And when someone says, “I don’t know what I love,” I often respond: “If you did know… what would it be?” Sometimes we must gently lead ourselves into knowing what we think we do not know. All of this prepares us for the next step.
In the next blog, we will move into Step Three of Spiritual Mind Treatment.
