Opening New Doors – Day 9: Courage

Our daily meditation on Day 9 opened the door of Courage. One of our participants, Cliff, shared that he believes “fear is the mother of courage.” I love this thought—it’s true. Every time we experience fear, we are given the opportunity to birth courage in that very moment. Courage doesn’t mean we are without fear; it means we are willing to walk through it.

There is much that can feel fearful these days. Our world—and our country—are living in a heightened state of fear. I encounter this daily in conversations and in listening to people’s concerns. What I truly know, however, is that we must walk through these fears by waking up to our Truth. There is one Power, and it is greater than fear. That Power brings forth courage.

It is remembering—and acting from—our True selves: Love. Love is not a “woo-woo” word. It is Power. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “Love is a synonym for God. And what is God but Infinite, unlimited, eternal Power.”

The Bible tells us, “Perfect love casteth out fear.” Can we choose to live a little more in Love today? When something arises—as it often does—or when we hear news that makes our heart skip a beat, can we pause and ask, “What would Love do here?” and then move forward into action from that place?

Ernest Holmes wrote:

“The fear of loss of health, loss of friends, loss of property, all arise from the belief that God is not all that we claim… But what is fear? Nothing more than the negative use of faith—faith misplaced—a belief in two powers instead of One—a belief that there can be a power opposed to God whose influence and ability may bring us evil.”

Courage is faith in our Divinity and in the invisible Power from which all things come.
So the question becomes: Where are we placing our faith?

Affirmation:
I move forward guided by Spirit, with faith in my Divinity not fear.

Walking with Courage,
